What Is Vitalist Herbalism?
Vitalist herbalism focuses on therapeutics that work with the body’s natural processes and support its innate gravitation toward healing. This is a holistic approach that leans on the healing powers of diet, lifestyle, herbs, and nature. Vitalist herbalism avoids suppressive therapeutics, which only drive symptoms deeper into the body and do not address the root cause of ailments or diseases. In contrast to allopathic medicine, vitalist herbalism digs to the root cause of a condition and relieves it from the source, aiming for a true cure rather than a superficial treatment. It is not a one-pill-fits-all approach, but rather assesses each individual on his or her unique constitution and make-up.
Vitalist therapeutics inspire self-empowerment with your health and cultivate a greater connection to your Best Self and the world around you. It puts you in the driver’s seat by giving you the framework and tools to manage the health of your mind, body, and spirit long-term, and re-instills trust in your body’s innate power to heal.
What can you expect?
At Rising Meadow, you’ll feel heard and supported 100% of the way. I fully admit there is a time and place for the miracles of modern medicine, but if you’re looking for an integrative and holistic approach to your healthcare, look no further. My consultations and therapeutics look nothing like the 7 minute office visits at a doctor’s office. Instead, I take ample time with my clients because I understand the importance of holding space and learning your whole story. I want all my clients to feel heard, understood, and seen as the unique individual you are. Instead of writing a generic prescription to suppress your symptoms, we work together to devise a tailored therapeutic strategy that takes into account your unique constitution and needs to get to the root of your health conditions.

Meet Laura
I often find myself asking the question “How did I get here?” Well, my life has taken me on a lot of twists and turns to end up where I’m at today, and I hit a lot of learning curves along the way. Some of those twists and turns have had me living in far off remote places, beautiful wildernesses, major cities across the U.S., and international countries. But some things have remained constant in my life, like my love of nature and finding the mystical in the natural world. I have always been drawn to the healing arts, initially through the lens of conventional medicine and academic research, then later in psychology and exploring mental and emotional wellness. Eventually, my inclination towards nature and my passion for healing culminated in holistic herbal medicine.
My Biggest Influence
Reflecting on it all, the Sierra Nevada Mountains have been my biggest teacher. The best days of my life have been in and around those majestic forests and peaks. (See that girl in the photo? That’s me, back in the day). Now, I have settled in the Sierra foothills, in Nevada City, CA with my husband, our kitty, and our new baby boy (my biggest learning curve yet!). We enjoy hiking, rock climbing, swimming in the Yuba River, music shows and the occasional festival or fair. Now, I awake each day wondering how I can be of service to others and what adventures and challenges lay ahead for me.
